While growing up as a little child, some of us like me, were strong headed, rebellious, and hard hearted to the instructions and commandment of the elderly most especially our parents; for instants, you were asked not to go near a hot electric iron, something in you triggers and says; “why not?” Until you eventually do what you were instructed against, and the resulting pain is often unbearable. At that point lesson is learnt, and if you are wise enough you will know that, it was out of love and not hatred you were instructed not to go near the electric iron.

The Irony of life is that most often than not, the human mind can’t comprehend the fact that, these instructions or commandments often given to us by Parents, teachers, preachers and the respected or elderly ones in the society is not out of hatred, but love so as not to go through the pains, and negative repercussion they went through, we usually feel otherwise, and want to damn the consequences, as a toddler you were told; “don’t go near the electric iron,” but you went, as a child, you were told; “don’t steal, be obedient, don’t lie, or fight,” but you disobeyed. As a teen, you were told; “don’t party, take drugs, don’t have premarital sex …” You disobeyed! If only you were wise enough to learn your lessons from previous experiences, but no you don’t, why? Because of the rebellious heart inside inherited from the fall of man.

This rebellious heart has giving lots of negative repercussions; it never has positive results, sometimes they are delayed, but it is never denied, the gross repercussion is that; our days are cut short; “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” (Ephesians 6: 1 -3). Many today are carrying un-necessary burdens, pain, and scars of their rebellious heart, unwanted child(ren), sicknesses and diseases, shattered emotions, shattered dreams, loneliness, bitterness, hatred, emptiness, full of regrets, and some are insane with dysfunctional minds already, the road of a rebellious heart leads to death and destruction, be warned!

That is in the physical, what about the spiritual, the heart of man is rebellious against the laws of the Spirit, Apostle Paul said; “the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.” (Romans 8: 7 Niv). Earlier in the previous verse, he said; “the mind of a sinful man is death …” You can’t rely on your rebellious heart to guide you in your sojourn in life, listen to the voice of the Spirit and live, the voice is still speaking today, it is getting louder and louder, the instruction has now being simplified to; “only belief,” (Romans 10: 9), only belief that Jesus is Lord, and He is the true begotten Son of God, who has die for the remission of our sins, this is the only way to be saved from eternal destruction.

Oh! What needless pains we bear! The rebellious heart only leads to destructions and eventually eternal death, sicknesses are the fruits of a rebellious heart; “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.” (Exodus 15: 26), if we only belief in His Son, we will live a painless life here on earth; “Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live? Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?” (Ezekiel 33: 10 -11).

Repent today! Repent today! Repent today of your rebellious heart and live; “If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die. None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.” (Ezekiel 33: 15 -16).

Today if you hear is voice hardened not your heart! (Hebrew 3: 15).
